Deadbolt installation, smart lock installation, lever sets, mailbox and gate locks, and high-security cylinders, on homes across the Indianapolis metro. If you need someone to install a lock or replace door hardware, this is the page.

Most lock installs go wrong in one of two ways: the hardware does not fit the door, or it fits but never quite closes right afterward. Both come down to measurements taken before anything is unscrewed. We check bore size, backset, door thickness, and strike alignment first, then install, then test the door until it latches cleanly on the first turn.

Deadbolt, Smart Lock, or High-Security: Which to Install

Most people call knowing they want a new lock and not much beyond that. Here is the honest version of the trade-off, so you can decide before you spend anything.

Standard

Deadbolts, knob and lever sets

  • Reliable mechanical security
  • Cheapest to buy and to replace
  • Keys can be copied anywhere, which is convenient and also the drawback
  • Kwikset, Schlage, Weiser, Defiant, Baldwin, Emtek, Yale
Most homes and rentals

Smart

Keypads and app-controlled locks

  • Guest codes, remote unlock, auto-lock
  • No key to lose or hide
  • Needs batteries and, for some models, Wi-Fi or a hub
  • August, Yale Assure, Schlage Encode, Kwikset Halo, Eufy, Aqara, Level, SimpliSafe
Rentals, contractors, busy households

High-security

Restricted-keyway cylinders

  • Keys cannot be copied at a hardware store
  • Resists picking, drilling, and bumping
  • Costs more up front, and replacement keys take longer
  • Medeco, Mul-T-Lock, Schlage Primus

What It Costs

WorkPrice
Install hardware, per door$90 to $350
Smart lock, including setup and pairingUpper end of that range
New bore hole or door prepAdded to the base quote
Whole-house, multiple doorsQuoted per project

Why there is a range and not one number.

Install pricing depends as much on the door as on the lock. A like-for-like deadbolt swap on a door that is already bored correctly sits at the bottom of that range. A smart lock going onto a door that has never had a deadbolt, where the bore has to be cut and the strike re-routed, sits at the top. Two houses on the same street can differ by a couple of hundred dollars for the identical lock.

So we quote your door rather than quoting an average, and the quote comes before any work starts. Tell us the hardware and send a photo of the door edge and existing lock, and the number you get will be the number you pay.

Buying Your Own Hardware

Bring us whatever you bought. Amazon, Home Depot, Costco, a designer showroom, it does not matter and there is no penalty for not buying through us.

Before we start, we confirm it actually fits: bore diameter, backset, door thickness, and handing. That two-minute check is the difference between a finished job and a second trip. If it does not fit, we will tell you before anything comes off the door.

If you would rather we supply it, common deadbolts, lever sets, and popular smart locks are stocked on the van. Specialty finishes and less common brands can be ordered, and we confirm the wait as part of the quote.

Smart Lock Installation

A smart lock that is screwed to the door but not configured is just an expensive deadbolt, so installation here means the whole job, not the mounting. Installation includes the setup: app account, lock pairing, user codes for whoever needs them, and auto-lock settings.

We also connect it to whatever you already run, including Wi-Fi, Z-Wave, Matter, Apple Home, Google Home, and SmartThings. Have your network or hub credentials handy and the whole thing gets done in one visit.

What Door Lock Installation Includes

  • Measuring before unscrewing anything. Bore size, backset, door thickness, and handing are checked against the hardware first.
  • Door prep where the door needs it. New bore holes, latch mortising, and strike-plate routing on doors that were never drilled, cut with bits made for the door material rather than improvised.
  • Alignment, not just installation. Latch, strike, and weatherstrip adjusted so the door closes and locks on the first turn instead of needing a shoulder.
  • Smart lock configuration. Pairing, user codes, and hub integration, not just mounting.
  • Old hardware removed and taken away. You are not left with a box of dead locks.

Doors and Hardware We Install On

Wood, steel, fiberglass, and hollow-core doors. Front doors, back doors, garage service doors, patio and sliding door locks, gates, sheds, mailboxes, and interior privacy and passage hardware. Metal and fiberglass doors usually arrive pre-prepped from the manufacturer. When they don’t, we prep them with the right bits for the material.

How Long It Takes

A like-for-like swap runs 20 to 45 minutes per opening. Add time when a door needs new bore holes or mortising, or when a smart lock needs pairing and code setup. Whole-house jobs are usually same-day or next-day depending on the number of doors and whether we are sourcing the hardware.

Unlike a lockout, this is scheduled work. Pick a time that suits you rather than waiting on a dispatch.

    Questions We Get

Can you install a lock I bought online?

Yes, and there is no surcharge for it. We check that the hardware matches the door for bore size, backset, thickness, and handing before anything comes off, so there are no surprises halfway through.

Will you supply the hardware if I do not want to shop for it?

Yes. Common deadbolts, lever sets, and popular smart locks are stocked on the van. Less common brands and specialty finishes can be ordered, and we confirm availability and any wait as part of the quote.

Does smart lock installation include setting it up on my phone?

Yes. App setup, lock pairing, user codes, and integration with Wi-Fi, Z-Wave, Matter, Apple Home, Google Home, or SmartThings are all part of the install. Have your network or hub credentials to hand.

My door has never had a deadbolt. Can you add one?

Yes. New bore holes, latch mortising, and strike-plate routing are all part of the job, cut with bits suited to the door material. The quote reflects the extra prep.

Can you install on a metal or fiberglass door?

Yes. Metal and fiberglass doors usually come pre-prepped from the manufacturer. Where new prep is needed it is done with the correct bits for the material rather than improvised.

Do you install smart locks like August, Yale, Schlage Encode, or Kwikset Halo?

Yes, along with Eufy, Aqara, Level, and SimpliSafe. Installation covers mounting, app setup, pairing, user codes, and connecting the lock to Wi-Fi, Z-Wave, Matter, Apple Home, Google Home, or SmartThings.

    Is the installation guaranteed?

Yes. There is a 1-year warranty on labor. If hardware we installed does not operate properly because of the installation, we correct it at no additional charge. Defects in the hardware itself are handled through the manufacturer warranty.
